Alzheimer’s Disease testing protocol

Automated screening of AD models

Disease models typically show deviations in specific spontaneous behavioural parameters measured in our automated home-cage setting. We identify and exploit these parameters to use them for efficacy studies, comparison with other disease models and characterization of underlying disease mechanisms. Our testing protocol for mouse models of Alzheimer’s disease includes 3 days of spontaneous behaviour and 2 days of the CognitionWallTM discrimination test.

Amyloid-β toxicity affects activity and discrimination learning

Mouse models for Alzheimer’s disease based on amyloid-β toxicity show an increase in the short shelter visit threshold and impaired discrimination learning.
