Parkinson’s Disease testing protocol

Automated screening of PD models

pd-testing-protocolDisease models typically show deviations in specific spontaneous behavioural parameters measured in our automated home-cage setting. We identify and exploit these parameters to use them for efficacy studies, comparison with other disease models and characterization of underlying disease mechanisms. Our testing protocol for conventional MPTP-induced neurotoxicity in the context of Parkinson’s Disease includes multiple days of spontaneous behaviour to describe the behaviour before and after MTPT treatment.

Acute loss of dopaminergic neurons affects activity pattern

A mouse model of Parkinson’s Disease (MPTP-induced neurotoxicity) shows an acute reduction in locomotor activity.
